ABOUT JASON KARP, PhD
It all started with a race once around the track in sixth grade in Marlboro, New Jersey. Little did Jason know how much it would define his career and his life. A Brooklyn native (you can take the boy out of Brooklyn but you can’t take Brooklyn out of the boy), he grew up playing baseball and soccer and running track. And it was intoxicating. The passion that Jason found as a kid for the science of athletic performance placed him on a yellow brick road that he is still following all these years later as a coach, exercise physiologist, author, speaker, and educator.
Since that first race, and after many years of dedication to his craft, Dr. Jason Karp has become an internationally-recognized running and fitness expert, speaking at fitness industry conferences and track and field coaching clinics around the U.S. and the world. He is the creator of the REVO₂LUTION RUNNING™ certification for fitness professionals and coaches and is the 2011 IDEA National Personal Trainer of the Year and 2014 recipient of the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports & Nutrition Community Leadership award.
A prolific writer, Jason has more than 400 published articles in running, coaching, and fitness magazines and scientific journals and is the author of eight books. His best-known titles include The Inner Runner, Run Your Fat Off, and Running a Marathon For Dummies.
Jason is a USA Track & Field certified coach, has taught USA Track & Field’s level 3 coaching certification, and has led elite coaching camps at the U.S. Olympic Training Center. A runner since sixth grade, he was a member of the silver-medal winning U.S. Masters Team at the 2013 World Maccabiah Games in Israel.
