As I’ve been writing my next book, The Inner Runner, I have been spending a lot of time reflecting on running. I find myself humbled by what running really means and what it really does for us. For many, running is a pathway to experiences and emotions that cannot always be articulated. It is often hard to explain with words how I feel when I race or when I see one of the runners I coach have a breakthrough. It is a feeling deep inside of me. Running gives us an experience and molds us into better, more deeply conscious people, just as the miles and interval workouts mold us into faster, more enduring runners.
For a long time, I’ve been wanting to share this experience with other runners by hosting running retreats, during which I bring runners from all over the country (and the world) together to share their passion. I would teach them how to train to become better runners, how not to get injured, show them how to apply the science by coaching them through workouts, and take them on runs during which we explore what it means to be a runner.
I’m excited to announce that the Run-Fit Retreats have become a reality, with two retreats scheduled (and more to come)! On August 28-30, the Run-Fit Retreat takes place at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in majestic Coronado, California. On October 2-4, the Run-Fit Retreat takes place at the Daytona Beach Resort in Daytona Beach, Florida. Two retreats, two beautiful coasts of the U.S., two opportunities to share the experience of a lifetime. Please join me and other runners as we run, learn, share stories, dine on great cuisine, and have an amazing time together at the Run-Fit Retreats. Through the bond of running, you’ll make friends for the rest of your life. And, from the bottom of my heart, I promise that you will leave as a different person and runner from when you arrived.
